Mick, Susan & Rebeca Peat welcome past, present The past four years seem to have passed very quickly indeed. Things are changing at the Vegetable Patch We are introducing more and more new stock, including a deli section, which hopefully will be expanded with a salad bar in due course. We are also introducing new cheeses, as well as a help yourself olive bar. As well as the smoked fish from Mackenzies Smokehouse we are looking at their other products and now have their fish pates and smoked meats, including smoked ostrich and smoked wild boar – the mind boggles, haven’t actually dared try this yet but will no doubt have some at Christmas. Amongst other new additions are muffins, cakes and Yorkshire Parkin biscuits which are proving a tasty seller. Local produce features largely on display, we are supplied mainly by Vicky and Bryn from B Whiteley’s Farm in Pudsey who send us fresh cauliflowers, squash, pumpkins, cabbages, leeks etc during the winter and a wide variety of herbs and lettuces during the summer months. We also have started selling plants, ie shrubs and perennials, together with winter pansies and hydrangeas which are proving very popular. As usual Vicky and Bryn will be supplying us with our Christmas trees at the beginning of December. At the end of October we are off to Northumberland for a few days sojourn to recharge our batteries and get ready for the onset of Christmas. This year seems to have passed as quickly as the past four years, could have something to do with the long summer which seems to be lingering on – just hoping that the winter isn’t as long or as cold as last year was! Hopefully we will be adding to our list of products so keep checking this website for new additions. We are hoping to bring you hemp products from Motherhemp, a local company supplying all manner of goods containing hemp including ice cream! www.motherhemp.com As we head into the autumn with Halloween pumpkins and Bonfire Night toffee apples we would like to wish all our customers a wonderful Christmas and an exciting New Year.
